Fabric selection

Every Fabric We Run for Basketball

Not a highlight reel — this is the full working list, including the trims and secondary materials that decide whether a kit survives a season. Weights are the ranges we actually run; the exact specification is fixed at sampling.

Only polyester can be sublimated — and it must start white

Dye sublimation bonds ink into polyester fibres, so it cannot be used on cotton, on nylon, or on fabric that has already been dyed dark. If your design needs all-over colour, stripes, hoops or gradients, it has to be built on one of the sublimation-ready knits below. Everything else is decorated by embroidery, transfer or screen print instead. Fabrics are tagged accordingly.

How to measure

Measure a garment the squad already wears and compare it to the tables above — it is far more reliable than measuring bodies.

ABC
A
ChestMeasure flat, 2.5 cm below the armhole, seam to seam. Double it for the full circumference.
B
Body lengthFrom the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
C
SleeveFrom the shoulder seam to the sleeve opening.

FIBA Official Basketball Rules & association rules

Basketball Kit Rules We Build To

Basketball numbering is more prescriptive than any other code we manufacture for, and a non-compliant number is the single most common reason a new uniform gets refused at the scorer’s table. We build to FIBA by default and adjust to your association.

Number size and stroke width
FIBA requires numbers of at least 16 cm in height on the back and 8 cm on the front, at least 2 cm wide, in a plain style contrasting with the shirt. Any advertising or logo must sit at least 4 cm clear of a number. On a busy printed jersey this normally means a solid backing panel so the number keeps its contrast.
Permitted numerals differ by association
FIBA permits 0, 00 and 1–99. Collegiate and school associations have historically restricted numerals to digits officials can signal by hand, and those rules have been changing. Confirm the current season’s rule with your conference before we print — it is far cheaper than a reprint.
Same dominant colour front and back
The front and back of the jersey must share the same dominant colour. A design that is mostly dark on the back and mostly light on the front will not pass, however good it looks as artwork.
Compression garments must match across the squad
Where sleeves, tights or base layers are worn, FIBA requires them to be a permitted colour and the same for every player wearing them. Ordering these with the uniform avoids a mismatched squad on game day.
No pockets, zips or rigid fastenings in play
Playing uniform carries no pockets or rigid fastenings. Those belong on the warm-up jacket and tear-away pants, which are removed before play.

Rules change and competitions add their own. Send your competition handbook with the brief and we will lay the artwork out inside its limits — a routine part of our design step, not an extra.

Custom basketball manufacturing, in detail

Addahar Enterprises manufactures complete custom basketball uniforms for clubs, schools, colleges, leagues and distributors. A basketball programme rarely orders a single uniform: it needs a home and away game set, reversible jerseys for practice, shooting shirts and warm-ups for the bench, and something for travel — usually across several squads at once.

Basketball has tighter numbering rules than most codes, and they are worth getting right before production rather than after. FIBA specifies minimum number heights — 16 cm on the back and 8 cm on the front, with a 2 cm minimum stroke width — and requires the shirt to share a dominant colour front and back, and with the shorts. Collegiate and school associations layer their own restrictions on which numerals may be used.

We produce sublimated pro mesh and interlock game uniforms, true reversible double-knit practice kits with two finished faces and no exposed seams, and the full bench and travel range. Small club orders run from our existing blocks; colleges, leagues and brands work from their own tech packs under OEM or private-label terms.

OEM, ODM & Private Label

How we work with you depends on how much of the design you already own. All four routes run through the same factory and the same quality process.

Basketball Manufacturing FAQs

The questions we are asked most often, answered straight.

What is the minimum order for custom basketball uniforms?

Sublimated game uniforms start at 10 pieces per design and the run can be all different sizes. True reversible practice jerseys carry a higher minimum because the double-knit fabric is made to order.

Are your reversible jerseys true reversibles?

Yes. They are cut from a double-knit fabric with two finished faces, so there are no exposed seams or raw edges on either side. That is different from — and considerably better than — two jerseys sewn back to back, which is bulky and shows its construction.

Will the numbers meet FIBA specification?

Yes, by default: at least 16 cm on the back, 8 cm on the front, with a 2 cm minimum stroke — the current FIBA figures, reduced from 20/10 in the 2022 rule revision. If your association specifies different heights or restricts which numerals you may use, tell us at brief stage and we build to that instead.

Can you match our college or programme colours exactly?

Yes. Send Pantone references or a physical garment and we match to it, then record the recipe against your account so next season’s order does not come back a shade off.

Do you make women’s and youth fits?

Yes. The women’s jersey runs on its own block through the shoulder, bust and hip rather than being a smaller men’s cut, and youth sizing runs on an age-band block.

Should we choose pro mesh or interlock?

Pro mesh for the classic court look and maximum ventilation; interlock if the design has fine detail, small text or gradients, because a large mesh aperture breaks up fine artwork. We will recommend based on your actual design.

Can you supply tear-away warm-up pants?

Yes — popper fastenings down the full leg so they come off over shoes, in matching tricot with your programme colours.

Can you produce under our own brand label?

Yes. Under private label we apply your woven neck label, hem tab and care label and pack to your specification, with no Addahar branding on the garment.

How long does a basketball uniform order take?

Samples in 7–10 working days from artwork approval, bulk in 15–20 working days after sign-off, and repeat orders from an existing pattern in 10–14 working days.

Can you kit out multiple squads at once?

Yes, and it is the most common way basketball programmes order. Varsity, junior varsity and development squads can share one design with different colourways, all against a single approved colour standard and one delivery.

Ready to kit out your basketball squad?

Send us your logo, colours and size breakdown. We will come back with a mock-up and a firm price — no obligation.
